In addition, the government is extending to 2 years any DACA and employment authorization documents that were initially issued for 1 year.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is the DACA initiative all about?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The acronym \u201cDACA&#8221; actually stands for DACA means Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals. It is a policy created by then-President Obama on June 15, 2012, that allows certain undocumented young people who entered the\u00a0 United States as children to receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and become eligible for a work permit in the U.S.<\/span><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In plain terms, DACA is the program that protects young immigrants from been deported out of the United States.<\/span><\/p>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">How Do I Apply For DACA?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just like every other program with rules, DACA\u2019s criteria for application are as follows:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are under 31 years of age as of June 15, 2012;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Came to the U.S. while under the age of 16;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You were physically present in the United States on June 15, 2006, and at the time of making the request for consideration of deferred action with USCIS;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">You are currently in school, have graduated from high school, have obtained a GED, or have been honorably discharged from the Coast Guard or armed forces;<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Have not been convicted of a felony offense, a significant misdemeanor, or more than three misdemeanors of any kind.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">What is More?<\/span><\/h3>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Just in case you need a legal consultant to help you through your DACA process, reach out to us today.
